SORA West Parking Garages
Conshohocken, PA

Transit-Oriented Parking

This  trans-formative, mixed use, transit-oriented redevelopment is comprised of a new office building, parking garage, and hotel building arranged around a plaza and the existing historic Washington Fire Company building.  The site is situated on a steeply sloping site in downtown Conshohocken just a short distance uphill from the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority’s (SEPTA) Conshohocken Station along the Manayunk/Norristown line.

The 11-story, 524,838 sf office building will house the global corporate headquarters of the healthcare solutions company, AmerisourceBergen as the anchor tenant for the development.  The underground parking beneath the office building, and the top 10 levels of the open, precast parking garage will serve the building occupants.  The other bottom two levels of the precast garage will be available for public parking including reserved parking for firefighters for the adjacent fire station and valet spaces for the hotel valet parking operator.  The fire department will have its own reserved entry/exit to the garage to facilitate quick access to the fire trucks in the adjacent fire station by responding volunteers.

The functional design of the 76,372 underground parking garage is a two bay, single helix, with two-way drive aisles and 90-degree parking stalls with 173 spaces.  A speed ramp provides access from street level down to the first underground parking level.  The functional design of the 460,762 precast parking garage, yielding 1,479 spaces, is a three bay, side by side helix configuration with one- way traffic and angled stalls on the two outside bays and two-way traffic with 90-degree stalls in the middle bay.

The Harman Group provided parking consulting and structural engineering for the office, hotel and parking garages.  In addition, they provided full architectural documentation for the open, precast parking garage.
