Designing for Children's Care

This 25,000 square foot, single-story steel framed medical office building is designed to accommodate both a future 25,000 square foot horizontal expansion and a vertical one-story, 50,000 square foot expansion. MRI equipment was located on grade level slabs to minimize the impact on the steel structure so as to not be designed for vibrations from sensitive equipment. The roof/future second floor was designed to support hanging loads from physical therapy equipment. A composite floor joist system was used for the roof/second floor to economize the steel design.
