On Friday, August 10th the Harman Group had the pleasure of celebrating the topping off milestone of two significant Philadelphia projects, View II and The Harper.
View II consists of two mixed-use towers, one 18 stories and the second 12 stories, that will feature 984 beds in 368 units of student housing as well as retail, commercial and ample amenity spaces.
The Harman Group provided structural engineering services for the project, which was designed by Niles Bolton Associates and is being developed by The Goldenberg Group. Intech Construction is the general contractor.
View II utilizes several structural systems. The lower floors employ structural steel with concrete slabs on metal deck. The 18-story East Tower is structural steel and precast plank, while the West Tower and Bridge structures are precast plank supported on cold formed steel bearing walls. Located on a 4.6-acre parcel that was the former site of John Wanamaker High School, View II is the second phase of The Goldenberg Group’s redevelopment project. View II is slated for completion in the summer of 2019.
The Harper, a 275,000 square-foot, 25-story, mixed-use residential building in Philadelphia, will feature 183 apartments and two floors of retail. Located at the site of the former Boyd Theater, The Harper will include premier retail space, creative office space, an outdoor park with a pool, and an underground garage.
The Harman Group provided structural engineering services for The Harper, in partnership with developer, Pearl Properties, architect, DAS Architects and construction manager, Wellcraft Construction Company.
To accommodate for the retail spaces located on the ground floor and first floor, The Harman Group needed to create more open space. Using five trusses and two plate girders as transfer members, The Harman Group was able to eliminate nine columns from the retail and amenities floor plans providing column-free areas.
The Harper is slated for completion in summer 2019.
