The Harman Group (THG) announced that construction is underway at The Beverly, a mixed-use development located at 1102 Germantown Avenue in the Northern Liberties neighborhood of North Philadelphia. The five-story, 53,000 square foot, wood frame mixed-use apartment building will include at grade and below-grade commercial and amenity spaces and one level of parking for eight vehicles.
The Harman Group is providing structural engineering services for the project in partnership with owner and developer, STAMM Development Group; architect, M Architects LLC / M Design LLC; construction manager, Tester Construction Group, LLC; mechanical/electrical engineer, Liberty Technology Group; civil engineer, Bohler Engineering; and geotechnical engineers, GeoStructures, Inc. and Fidelis Engineering, Inc.
The building structural system will consist of three stories of wood frame featuring 50 residential apartments over a two-story concrete frame podium. The project will be constructed on shallow, conventional spread and strip footings.
The $10 million, mixed-use residential building will offer commercial space and includes tenant and public amenities such as a rooftop deck, a sixth-floor outdoor courtyard, a communal bar, a movie theater, a game room, co-work space, a fitness center and lounge, a mail room, lobby and bike storage.
The Beverly is an award-winning project, having won The American Institute of Architects’ (AIA) 2021 Design Award in the Silver Medal General Unbuilt category. The building was recognized for its vertical community approach, catering to a post-pandemic society.
The project is slated to be completed by Spring 2022.
