THG Leadership Spotlight: Getting to Know Susanne Hanson

When did you join The Harman Group?

I joined The Harman Group in September 2020.

What do you enjoy most about working at The Harman Group?

I enjoy working with all the great people at The Harman Group. It is an absolute pleasure to work alongside some of the most talented engineers, who work on amazing projects.

What does it mean to you to be a leader?

A person I respect for being authentic and positive in everything she does once said, “If your actions create a legacy that inspires others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, then, you are an excellent leader.” This was Dolly Parton. We could all be more like Dolly.

What is your favorite/most challenging part of your job?

My favorite part of my job is that I am constantly learning new things about the projects The Harman Group is working on and the challenges that the engineers need to solve. The most challenging but rewarding part of my job is the industry is always changing – always presenting new learning opportunities!

Outside of your work, are you involved in any other organizations or nonprofits?

My background is in business development, so one the biggest perks of my job is to get involved in industry organizations. I am the President-elect of CREW Greater Philadelphia, an organization where I have met irreplaceable professional confidants as well as trusted, treasured friends. I also serve on a few committees for ULI Philadelphia, and I am a member of SCUP.

What is your favorite out-of-work activity?

I love doing anything outside! I am a former landscape architect; gardening is a joy in my life. I also enjoy golfing, hiking, skiing, and biking.

What don’t most people know about you?

I feel like I am an open book. People probably know more than they want to know about me! If you want to know something, feel free to reach out and ask!
